The first weeks home

Your new puppy guide.

Six small milestones every Heaven Sent family walks through together — here's what to expect at each one.

Potty training

Consistent, frequent trips outside (or to a pad) and a lot of praise — most puppies get the hang of it within a few weeks.

Crate training

A crate becomes a safe den, not a punishment — short, positive stretches build up to full nights within days.

First leash walk

Short, low-pressure strolls in the yard first — let curiosity lead before venturing to the sidewalk.

First bath

Warm water, tearless shampoo, and a towel waiting — most Cavaliers end up loving bath time.

First grooming

That silky coat needs a gentle brush a few times a week from day one — it becomes a bonding ritual fast.

Expect a little whining as they adjust — a warm blanket, a nearby crate, and patience get everyone through it.

Common questions

Puppy care, answered.

Do you start potty and crate training before pickup?

Yes — puppies are introduced to pads and short crate stretches in our home well before they go to their new family, so you're building on a head start, not starting from zero.

What comes home with my puppy?

See the full inclusions ledger on the Available Puppies page — food, health records, and registration paperwork are all part of it.

When can my puppy go on walks or meet other dogs?

Check with your own veterinarian — generally it's safe once the full puppy vaccine series is complete, a few weeks after you bring them home.

How often does a Cavalier need grooming?

A gentle brush two to three times a week keeps that silky coat mat-free, with a professional groom every couple of months.

What if the first night is rough?

Totally normal. Keep the crate close to you, offer a worn t-shirt with your scent, and reach out — I'm never more than a message away, especially in those first nights.

The written guarantee, in plain words

What our one-year guarantee covers.

Every Cavalier we place is guaranteed healthy at the time of placement. Within 72 hours of receiving your puppy, you'll have it examined by a licensed veterinarian and return a copy of the exam report — that visit starts your coverage.

For a full year from the date of birth, your puppy is guaranteed against lethal congenital defects, including congenital lethal heart murmurs. If a life-threatening genetic defect is diagnosed and confirmed within that year, we replace the puppy with one of the same gender and color as soon as one becomes available.

And beyond the paperwork, one promise never expires: if you're ever unable to care for your Cavalier, we will always take the dog back. No Heaven Sent dog belongs in a shelter — ever.

  • Healthy at placement, guaranteed in writing
  • One-year coverage against lethal congenital defects
  • A standing offer to take any dog back, for life
